Türkiye’s goods exports reached $25.976 billion in September 2026, increasing 15.4% compared with September 2025, according to provisional figures released by the Ministry of Trade. Imports rose 5.9% to $31.208 billion.
A stronger September, a more moderate year
The monthly improvement was substantial: September’s trade deficit fell 24.8% year on year to approximately $5.2 billion, according to the Presidency’s Strategy and Budget Office.
The longer view was less dramatic. During January–September, exports increased 5.2%, while imports grew 5.4%. A strong September therefore does not, by itself, establish a sustained acceleration in export growth.
Germany remains an important market
Separately, TÜİK’s August country figures show that Germany was Türkiye’s largest export destination during January–August 2026, receiving $15.045 billion in Turkish goods. These figures cover a different reporting period from the September headline.

What businesses should take from the figures
On Business Insight analysis: Higher export revenue is a useful signal, but it does not establish that every sector is becoming more competitive—or that suppliers are earning higher margins.
For buyers and investors, the next questions concern product volumes, pricing, delivery performance and sector-specific demand. September’s figures justify closer attention to Türkiye; they do not replace company-level due diligence.
Data note: September figures are provisional. Monetary values are in US dollars; growth rates compare the stated period with the corresponding period of the previous year.
